SWORPS helps non-custodial parents find ways to meet their financial obligations and reconnect with their children through two programs: the Tennessee Partnership for Ongoing Parental Support (TPOPS) and the Tennessee Child Support Employment and Parenting Program (TCSEPP). Both programs are funded through contracts with the Tennessee Department of Human Services, Family Assistance & Child Support Division.

TPOPS is a partnership effort designed to reduce recidivism among inmates located at the Morgan County Correctional Facility in East Tennessee. The program helps incarcerated non-custodial parents know their rights and responsibilities and become a part of their children’s lives. The main goal of TPOPS is to help inmates and former inmates who are parents reconnect with their children. This is accomplished by making referrals to community-based service providers who offer the needed resources.
Our coordinators serve their clients in a myriad of ways, some of which include; helping parents understand basic information about their child support case, reviewing their case with them to see if any changes or updates are required, determining if they are eligible for a modification to their child support order, and offering support upon their release from prison.
Navigating the child support system while looking for a job and establishing a healthy and strong relationship with their children is difficult for some parents. TCSEPP supports non-custodial parents in Knox, Sevier, Grainger, Cocke, and Jeffersion counties who are seriously interested in finding and maintaining employment and developing strong relationships with their children.
