Child Care Quality Outcomes

Our longevity and proven success in working with state departments and other agencies to improve child care quality in Tennessee truly reflects our hard work and dedication. We are proud of the work we do and the outcomes of our efforts.

Since the inception of the Report Card Program in 2001, the overall quality in child care settings across Tennessee has increased dramatically, as seen in the graphic below. This success indicates that many more children in Tennessee are now receiving higher quality, developmentally appropriate child care that keeps them safe and healthy, prepares them for school, and readies them for life.

Year 1 || n=2,534

Year 12 || n=2,889

Year 12 marked the highest percentage of 3-star (the highest rating an agency can receive) child care providers since the statewide child care quality imitative began, with approximately 70.0% of child care providers earning this rating.
